Words of Wisdom

Youth is wasted on the young.

"Here's The Story....."

I had a lovely picture for Best Shot Monday but we have been suffering more of the 'Brady Bunch Meltdown' here at The Sword so it will have to wait. Currently we are minus one 19 year old. He has apparently moved out because we hate him. This is (also apparently) because I suggested that if he were going to give me a hard time about dinner being 'late' he could always cook it himself. Or words to that effect. It's a long story and of course there's more to it than that. That was just the trigger.

He has done this before and the longest he stayed away was a little over a month before he ran out of money.

I know he is going through some tough times at the moment, trying to decide what to do with his life, get his driver's licence etc. Maybe a bit of time away will be a good thing for us all. I'm trying to believe that anyway.

Aren't families messy?

Teenagers...one of life's fun stages, no?

Hang in there.

It's hard being 19. Everything is so black or white and there never seems to be room for compromise. Hang in there, family. Maybe alone time is what he needs.

Being that I have my own 19 year old, who at present is simply taking up residence on the couch and doing very little else...I have my own thoughts about this. I am sorry that it has come to another meltdown, but sometimes those are necessary. (We are due for one any time now! But I fear it will be ME doing the melting!) I would totally have said THE SAME thing about dinner...I realize there is more to it than just that, but still...the point is at 19 you have to wake up and realize that the future is at your feet! You have to have some ACTIVE part in it! It is high time for the 19 year olds in the world to do whatever needs to be done...to help with dinner, to get off of the couch, to get a job, to go back to school....(OK, I am totally projecting my own need-to-have speech on this comment...this has suddenly become more about MY 19 year old than yours....SORRY!) Whew! I REALLY feel your pain. I do hope things cool off and he will come home-(IF that's what you want...sometimes space apart is good too...) I will be thinking about you and praying for the best resolution to the situation!
*another hug*
P.S. Thank you SO much for the very sweet comment you left about my parents...I appreciate it!
