Yes it was....the one I went to...not the one I teach at. And what the letters stand for depends on who you ask! 'Mothers Little Chickens' was one unkind rendition. Methodist Ladies College was the correct name but it was changed back in the late 70s when the Methodists, Presbyterians and Congregationalists got together to form the Uniting Church. It's now named after some benefactor or Headmistress. These old gates caught my eye when visiting the other day.
Shame on you for not remembering the derivation of the obscure name "Annesley" that our alma mater now bears! Of course you have temporarily forgotten that she was John and Charles Wesley's mother and they founded the Methodist church. I just googled her and found out the poor thing had 19 children! Hardly something to name a school after. You must have wiped from your memory our dear Ruth's endless explanation of who she was one morning assembley. (I will allow that you were brought up Anglican though, hence the name Wesley was not as familiar as it was to us Methodists)
Thank you Prof! (I think that's you hiding behind the anonymous) but I was trying to keep a degree of anonymity for our Alma Mater. Haha. A bit pathetic given the photo and the shield eh? But you're right, I have wiped that assembly from my memory. Although not the many, many, many others that our dear HM subjected us to over the years. :-)

What a lovely shot! And I particularly like the angle.

So fun! I love it - it reminds me of something from Harry Potter :)
