Best Shot Monday: Comfort Food

It's Monday and this week I have taken nary a photograph so tonight when the BA presented me with this Rocky Road Sundae I took advantage of the light on the balcony and with Himself 'art directing' I took a Monday shot.

I feel fat just looking at it.

I am hoping this week will be more productive and less stressful than last week or I could be eating a lot more of these Rocky Road Sundaes. Being the Special Ed Co-ordinator is a lot to take on and involves quite a bit of emotional investment.

I have edited this post in light of the fact that anonymity on blogs cannot be guaranteed and the content may have been identifiable.

Wow! That all sounds incredibly stressful. I would have a line up of those sundaes waiting for me at home if I dealt with that on a daily basis. Although I really enjoy the teaching I did throughout my PhD and Post-doctoral studies, I knew I didn't have the talent or patience to make a career out of it. I admire those who do. It is such an important job.

Yeah. At least the kids you teach actually WANT to learn!! But perhaps many are equally unrealistic about their academic paths?

Wow. That is a lot of stress!!!!

That sundae, however, looks amazing! Tell BA if she ever comes to the states, to come to Ohio and bring me one of those! :) haha.

hope this week is much better -- it certainly doesn't need to be bad to eat another delicious sundae! your photo makes me want one, even if it is only 7am :).

There's nothing wrong with a sundae after a hard week!

Something about the Mum struck me in that story - seems she's driving her daughter way too hard, expectations set too high. There's such a plague of that these days. I hope that as a parent I can recognize that everyone has different gifts and just give the boy support in the areas in which he's gifted - not the ones that I want him to be.

Yikes, that's really hard. It's so frustrating to see a parent who isn't willing to help their child. It sort of makes me wonder about her mom's mental state as well. Sounds like she's feeding idea's into the girl's head. Sheesh.
I hope the sundae helped. ;) Here's to a better week this go 'round.

Wow, that is incredible stuff, stressful-incredible-hard. I really admire you.

As for BSM - I could use one of those, it looks so yummy! Kudos to the creator and art director, too!

Wow - I hope your student and her mother find their way. Perhaps they need to hear that message from other sources before they will believe that the traditional route is not for her!
Sometimes parents can be a child's biggest obstacle - even though I am certain it is quite unintentional.

Hold on - this too shall pass!

Poor girl. I can't imagine being a teacher, wanting so badly to help and so often not being able to. Good luck to her, and to you as well.

Maybe you should send BA my way. I'm in need of some ice cream therapy!

Random P.S. There is a woman in my spinning class to looks so much like you! Imagine my shock the other day when she opened her mouth and she was Australian! You don't have a long lost twin, do you?

Yuck...it's no fun to be in that position at all! Hang in there, hopefully it will all work out soon.

On the subject of the sundae - tell BA when she has a fit of total teenage angst and wants to run away, she can run here...because if she will make sundaes like that, I will totally take her in! However I'm pretty sure that Kansas doesn't have any great worldwide appeal, so I guess I'll be stuck making my own ice cream treats! The shot is great though - I love the sunlight!

I think you get students at university who are there because they felt pressured to get a degree and thought science was a good idea, but for the most part the students were great to teach.

As for Chris's comment, I know what he says is true, but as an academic I really hope that Zach is smart. He doesn't have to be a scientist, but I fear I will be one of those parents who insists that he goes to Uni...bad I know, but at least I can see my faults, 17 years before they happen:)
