There seems to be a distinct lack of blogging enthusiasm across the blogosphere and I for one have fallen victim to the virus. I blame facebook. It is too easy to stick up a one sentence status update and cover just about everything I want to say without having to compose a well written and thoughtful post (when was the last time I did THAT?). Even the photos load faster on facebook. *sigh*

You're right, it's so much easier to post one liners to FB.
YES.
Facebook has already shared more than I would like. Facebook is even "stickier" than blogs. If I had known better, I would have never used the application "Networked Blogs". But it's too late now, perhaps.
I adjusted my privacy long ago, AND I remove my name from ALL photos I post.
And NEVER say yes to an application that asks for access to your friend list.
Still, the positive effect my online life has had for me far outweighs the downside. I'll live with any embarassment it causes.
I feel the same way! Eventually, though, blogging regains its charm.
As for the photos, I have some of mine set to "friends only" and some set to "friends of friends", depending on the photos. Your student sounds like a real jewel... the kind that makes teaching SO much fun. (rolling my eyes).
I am a fan of facebook. I agree that it has taken some of the shine off my blogging. I also check out those privacy settings to make I'm not oversharing, too. I don't add everyone as a friend that asks. If I don't know or remember you...I don't add!
It is nice to keep up with my friends IRL, since none of them ever read my blog.
You know what the solution to that problem is, don't you?
Don't use it!
Now I need to go see what the pictures are. Are we Facebook friends?
hmmm, I know what you mean - I definitely blog less because of facebook and twitter!!
Incidentally - we've had some people fired at work because of inappropriate comments they made on FB about patients!!!! (it was their second facebook warning too as they'd also posted inappropriate photos of themselves playing the "lying down" game) While they brought this on themselves, FB is definitely a slippery slope!!)
I am a big fan of facebook -- it's just so fast and easy! But I am with you -- I can't believe the things that some people put up there...they seem to forget that what they post is public content...and they should definitely pick their friends carefully!
Yeah facebook is really weird that way. It can easily get out of control. And when they changed the privacy settings tools, I guess all of the things defaulted to "friends of friends" can see. I had to change mine & especially have my daughter change hers.
The way I think about it is, it's like anything online. You can be as careful as you can, but more or less it's public and your boss MIGHT see it. So I try and put on only stuff that's embarrassing and not stuff that could get me fired. I hope.
Oh no... I agree I fall into the facebook easiness. But have made it as locked tight as I can! But there are always loops holes it seems. I have known someone to get fired over FB comments though as well.
This is precisely why I do not have a FB account! My middle schoolers would have a ball sneeking a peek into my personal life. I suppose it is dangerous enough with a blog...nosey kids!
Hope you are well. Hope the family is doing well too, and the BA is enjoying school!
I have been out with the daughter and Eli for the last two weeks, and my first day back to work is Monday. Do NOT want to go back! Have been wishing I could just stay home with them forever and still get paid. Hahaha Ok, I know it's time to be a big girl...er, a big grammy and face reality. Still don't wanna do it!
Hope you'll take a break from FB soon and tell more wonderful stories here! Take care...
